Although still nursing, this vixen has already been weaning her young kits for weeks. And while the kits have only now just begun to explore the world outside their den, in just a few short months they will hunting on their own before disbanding in search of their own territory come fall. However, before these young foxes can learn to hunt, they need to learn what to eat. Yet despite mom's best efforts, these kits seem more interested in playing with their food than eating it.
Red Fox vixen and kit (Vulpes vulpes) - San Juan Island, Washington
Here are some of my personal favorites from the rest of my gallery:
While the foxes are cute the scene is not to me o . o The scene reminds me of the brutality of nature. Something must die for other things to live. And that is taught to each young generation so that death and violence continue. Nature is harsh, but that's life.
Nature is brutal, if your temperament is soft. I feel the same about the how the violence continues but if a species as advanced as man still relies on eating meat, For an animal its completely justified and that baby won't go hungry.
See i hate to differentiate but humans are separate from other species on this planet, but the other species as i believe have 'no karma'. It is their duty and programming to procreate and feed. We feel its cruel cause subconsciously our species is much more brutal and all of us will have this innate guilt ( most cold countries have a history of cannibalism too)
Our Earth is still young, She will evolve. We're just stuck in between.
I found your comment very interesting and i've always felt this way, hence i took the time to probably try to reason it out.
